Dr Disrespect’s Rebuff

Dr Disrespect’s Rebuff

Dr Disrespect, a popular YouTube streamer and former streamer of the year, recently ignited debate among esports personalities and team owners.

Following Myth’s departure from TSM, Jake Lucky commented on the number of people who had left the firm in the previous six months. The Doc remarked in a harsh tweet; “unless you’re Faze, esports orgs don’t make money. Period.”

Of course, Dr Disrespect’s bold declaration drew a barrage of responses from around the esports community. Carlos “Ocelote” Rodrguez Santiago, the owner of G2 Esports, slammed the Doc’s claim and picked FaZe Clan as the only lucrative esports group. FaZe’s business, according to Ocelote, is “a literal hole” that relies solely on popular signings and specific sponsorship deals. He claimed that FaZe “made -17 million in EBITDA on just above $50 million in revenue” and that G2, among other esports organizations, “looks miles ahead” of the popular organization.

Similarly, 100 Thieves owner Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag slammed the Doc’s statement, telling him to “lay off the gin and tonics.” Despite not yet being profitable, 100 Thieves is one of the fastest-growing esports businesses. Since its debut, 100 Thieves has proven to be one of the most popular esports brands, seeing huge growth and remaining alive thanks to outside financing.

Despite team owners’ concerns, FaZe remains one of the world’s largest and most popular esports organizations. FaZe’s reach extends far beyond esports, with a Twitter following of 5.6 million and constant streamer and athlete signings ranging from NICKMERCS to Bronny James. Nonetheless, G2 Ocelote and many others have demonstrated that FaZe is not alone in its success.
