Disguised Toast To Host Subathon

Disguised Toast To Host Subathon

Disguised Toast has finally agreed to hold an uncapped Twitch subathon for his streaming fandom, but it comes with some odd rules, primarily based on the number of viewers.

Subathons have exploded in popularity on Twitch in the last year, thanks largely to Ludwig Ahgren’s now-famous 31-day streaming marathon. Disguised Toast is the most recent celebrity to join the bandwagon. On Feb. 16, the variety streamer said that he would be online for “every second of every day” as long as his subathon was active. But there’s a catch: Toast has devised some new regulations for his possibly infinite stream. According to the Twitch star, it’s more of a “viewerthon.”

Toast has a countdown counting down on his stream instead of a timer related to each subscription he receives throughout the uncapped broadcast. The number increases by one every 30 seconds. The streaming star will cancel his stream if his viewers fall below the “viewerthon” countdown at any point. Surprisingly, Toast’s project has nothing to do with subscriptions.

Here’s what he stated; “I wanted it to be less about money. The idea that I would be sitting there doing whatever I wanted, maybe sleeping, not at the PC, and people were paying for my time, I didn’t really like that. It would have felt weird. So, if this number [his current live viewers] is ever smaller than the subathon timer, I will end the stream. Everyone get it? Because we’re beginning, [viewers] are significantly higher. But after five days, maybe they’ll get closer. Then day six, seven, days, it’s even higher. This subathon should be potentially 72 hours, something like that. But it does have a slow, gradual end. That’s the plan at least. I know you guys have been asking me to do an uncapped stream, this is my take on that. It means I’ll have to play what you guys want me to!”

Toast’s viewerthon timer is currently hovering around 2,800. Since the faux-subathon began early on Feb. 16, the Twitch star has hovered around 10,000 concurrent viewers, with little changes to his broadcasting audience. Toast’s uncapped stream will last at least another 60 hours if these numbers remain constant. That suggests the stream’s finale might be on February 20th.

Toast joked early in the stream, “Look, it’s kinda setting in how much work this is going to be. If I don’t look at the number it’s not that bad. It’ll go faster.”

Subathons have recently become all the rage on Twitch. VTuber Ironmouse’s uncapped stream made her the platform’s most-subscribed female star ever only this week.
