Daltoosh Apologizes

Twitch streamer who is known for playing Apex Legends on his stream, Daltoosh has issued an apology after he made a racist joke during one of the live broadcasts on twitch and he went on to thank those who called him out about his behavior. After this, other streamers such as NRG’s Rogue and Sweet also issued an apology for failing to speak out against Daltoosh earlier. A clip of the stream surfaced online where Daltoosh was watching a viral golfing video online.

In the video, a golfer has a prominent tan line, then Daltoosh went on to crack a joke by contrasting the “401k” lighter part of the golfer’s skin and the tanned side as “Nae Nae”. It seems to be a light-hearted joke from his perspective, which has led to some people defending the humor but a lot of people were quick to call Daltoosh out on the casual racism. In the clip, Daltoosh can be heard saying; “that man is two races at once … up top, you thinking like 401k, right here you thinking like ‘Nae Nae.’”

Daltoosh posted a twitlonger addressing the issue and apologizing for his mistake. He makes note of needing to be accountable and a better example before jumping into why he shouldn’t be defended.

He explains that those people who were offended by his joke have every right to feel that way and that, as a privileged white person, he can’t do anything but take full accountability. His message to those people who defended him was; “The people who have been defending me, calling others snowflakes or soft are not understanding that this isn’t about them.”

Shortly after Daltoosh posted his apology, NRG’s Rogue and Sweet were both also looped in as they both apologized for being slow to call out Daltoosh on his joke. Overall, reactions have been mostly positive to the three streamers’ apologies. People generally want to see Daltoosh’s actions begin matching his apologetic words, but are glad he’s being conscious of his privilege and intends to improve.
