Daniel “Dafran” Francesca Gets A Lifetime Ban From The Valorant Solary Cup

Daniel Francesca also known online as Dafran is a former Twitch video game streamer and former professional Overwatch player. Francesca represented Selfless Gaming before being suspended from competitive play. At the end of the Stage 1 of the League’s 2019 season, Francesca announced that he would be stepping away from competitive play in favor of being a full-time streamer for the Atlanta Reign. Francesca has also played in the Overwatch World Cup for Team Denmark. Dafran has a long history of bad behaviour in other games, and while he has shown signs in the past of being reformed to some degree, even exhibiting good sportsmanship during his brief stint in the Overwatch League.

Dafran was banned from the Amazon-owned platform following his inflammatory comments directed at a Valorant tournament organizer. He received a lifetime ban from the tournaments run by French Esports organization Solary. Comments made by Dafran on his personal Twitch stream regarding fellow former Overwatch League retirees have been cited by Solary as the reason for the lifetime ban.

Dafran isn’t a stranger to controversies. In the past he received multiple bans from Overwatch, Twitch and from Blizzard Games themselves.

Recently, Dafran was observed playing Valorant regularly and looking to go pro with his team Prodigy by competing in its tournaments. But things didn’t exactly go as planned when it came to the Solary cup for Valorant.

In the semi-finals of the tournament, there occurred some misunderstandings between the organizers and team Prodigy regarding the event timings. According to Dafran, his team was clueless about the change in schedule which was reportedly shifted through an announcement in discord which was made days prior to the actual schedule.

The misunderstanding caused team Prodigy to not be ready for the tournament in time, while his opponents, team HypHypHyp were on-line and waiting for them. The tournament organizers soon announced that a game point would automatically be given to team HypHypHyp, and Dafran wasn’t a fan of the decision. He sparked an outrage against Solary and their rivals team HypHypHyp, showering them with a flurry of insults and profanities. Consequently, Solary was swift to call their decision. They imposed a permanent ban on Dafran across all their tournaments but allowed team Prodigy to advance further without him.

On stream, Dafran fired off some more strong remarks that indicated his distaste towards Hyp’s team refusing to play against him, saying that they are “too scared”. His remarks then devolved into additional personal insults against Hyp.
