Cancel Eugenia Cooney Petition

YouTuber and Twitch Streamer Eugenia Cooney got a petition from her fans saying that social media platforms should cancel because of her dangerous eating habits.

Eugenia Cooney has been subsequently hospitalized because of her Anorexia Nervosa. It is a deadly eating disorder with the highest rate of any mental illness. She has stirred controversy again because her concerned fans signed a petition to cancel her. She’s a YouTuber and Twitch Streamer with millions of fans. Her content was all about, gaming, beauty, vlogs, and being underweight.

The petition reads saying that Eugenia is clearly underweight and visibly suffering from an eating disorder. It started on Charge.org saying that Youtube must ban her but it was taken down by the website due to “violation of community standards”.

The latest petition was made and started by Lily Rose and it was sent to the CEOs of social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Twitch, and Twitter and it has now received around 46,671 signatures.

The petition states that Eugenia has a triggering weight, BMI, and appearance. It also states that she was assessed by medical professionals on how her body was low on weight and she was put on an involuntary treatment order of 72-hour psychiatric hold- so that she can be assessed for her mental and physical treatment.

It also spoke about how Eugenia returned to the public eye when she was shown at Shane Dawson’s Dawson’s documentary on where she spoke about her struggles with her eating disorder and how she encourages everyone with her same situation to get help. The petitioner pinpoints that the documentary reached and viewed 31.9 million times and that Eugenie herself is suffering from a life-threatening eating disorder.

Lily Rose, the petitioner, demanded from YouTube, Instagram, and other social platforms to ban Eugenia from uploading videos because of the concern that she may lose her life in the future and how her illness is having an impact on her audience. It is also saddening to know that many of her young followers and supporters look upon her and wish to look as she does.

It also notes that many social media platforms have a policy in place to protect their audiences from harmful content and the petition states that Eugenia has been unintentionally inspiring her followers to be exactly like her.

The petitioner also states that she herself experienced being Anorexic for 12 years and she doesn’t want anyone to experience the same thing, especially youth. Eugenia’s thousand followers’ audience might get affected by what she’s posting and might encourage them to do the same.
