Asmongold Criticized World Of Warcraft Update

The upgrade to World of Warcraft reduces eroticism in the MMO, and Twitch streamer Asmongold is one of the complaints.

The state of California has sued Activision Blizzard for a variety of reasons, including gender discrimination. The objectification of women in World of Warcraft has been reduced as a result of recent improvements, but Twitch streamer Asmongold has a negative perspective on the upgrade.

Asmongold, a popular Twitch streamer, recently went on the record to discuss a new World of Warcraft update. This update included a number of improvements to the game, including new character choices and improved weather effects for the Horde’s Orgrimmar and the Alliance’s Stormwind. Major changes to ancient paintings and tapestries in World of Warcraft have also been made in this release.

Many HD painting graphics upgrades were added in the 9.1.5 patch notes, according to the World of Warcraft community. These changes have had an influence on in-game artwork that has existed since the first edition of World of Warcraft was released in 2004. The changes were made in order to “tone down” the game’s sensuality, with an emphasis on female characters.

Before Asmongold spoke up, hundreds of World of Warcraft players had already expressed their displeasure with the MMO’s retroactive modifications. The prominent Twitch streamer believes the modifications are a joke and that the message conveyed by them is incorrect. “There’s nothing wrong with cleavage or sexuality, but there’s something wrong with acting as if there is.”

The artwork of a robed woman in Stormwind SI:7 was altered in the most recent World of Warcraft release. The woman’s robe was low-cut before the alterations, but the adjustments went beyond simply covering the female character. The robed woman’s face was less visible after the modifications, and her hair was also changed.

Asmongold believes there is something particularly wrong with World of Warcraft developers changing material retrospectively since it contradicts with today’s Activision Blizzard. According to the Twitch streamer, these modifications are related to a new message that Activision Blizzard is attempting to push, maybe as a result of the legal actions. The modifications were also dubbed “stupid and reductive” by Asmongold.

One of the most famous videos that has surfaced since Activision Blizzard and California filed their complaint is from a BlizzCon event from a few years back. During the video, a female fan asked the World of Warcraft creators whether the game will include more female characters based on catalogs other than Victoria’s Secret. While the developers first ignored this fan, it looks that the current World of Warcraft crew agrees with her message.
