Anti-Dream Movement Goes Viral

Popular Minecraft content creator Dream is at the center of an odd new trend that started after a joke he made about “rigging” a Minecraft Live vote went viral.

In 2021, Dream’s popularity on YouTube and social media exploded. He’s reaching a wider audience than ever before, with over 26 million followers on his YouTube channel, making it one of the most popular pages on the site. Despite the fact that his popularity is as strong as ever, Dream’s content has caused a backlash among Minecraft fans who have been flooded with Dream’s content.

The Mob Vote for the Minecraft Live 2021 event was revealed on Minecraft’s official Twitter page. For those who didn’t know, The Mob Vote is an annual event in which the Minecraft community selects a new mob to be included in the game.

After the announcement, Dream replied to the tweet and said, “I’m going to rig it.” Because of this, some fans reacted angrily to his remark, attempting to trend the hashtag “DreamShutTheF**kUp” on Twitter. While the hashtag became increasingly popular, an image began to circulate that detailed exactly what the anti-Dream campaign desired.

The image said, “On October 16, we shall mass report Dream’s YouTube channel and his other social media to get rid of him and make the Dream stans cry about it on Twitter.”

This image (along with numerous other variations) has been posted a zillion times on Twitter.

Dream’s post on the Mob Vote made quite a stir, resulting in a much larger backlash than he could have anticipated.
