Andrea Botez Gives Her Number to Chess Grandmaster

One of the Botez sisters, Andrea Botez ended up giving her phone number to a chess Grandmaster after she lost a bet during her live broadcast.

Chess has seen its meteoric rise in the year 2020, fueled by the hit Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit. The Botez sisters, Alexandra and Andrea Botez have become one of streaming’s most iconic duos on the platform. They currently have over 450k YouTube subscribers and almost 900k Twitch followers. The pair have popularized the iconic board game, joining TSM FTX’s Hikaru at the pinnacle of chess play.

Now, during their recent live broadcast under the Just Chatting content while they were at Times Square, they decided to make a bet on the random people with them stating that if they managed to outplay her, the prize would be her phone number. In the stream, taking on the young Grandmaster, one of the Botez sisters, Andrea Botez promised him that if he defeated her he would earn the right to her phone number.

However, as the game hurtled towards a conclusion, time began to run out for the Twitch star. After scrambling to force the clock in her favor, she knocks over one of her pieces and ultimately loses the game when the time runs out.

Because of this, Andrea ended up giving her phone number to what it turns out, a Grandmaster player with a rating above 2,000. After a quick fist bump, the player asks Andrea to live up to her promise and passes her his phone after she chooses to put her number in so that she doesn’t dox herself on camera. As chess streams continue to grow in prominence, the Botez sisters have taken their talents to the streets of New York to take on some of the city’s resident chess gurus.
