Veibae and Ironmouse Climb up in Twitch Ranks

According to statistics from StreamElements and Rainmaker.gg, VTubers are continuing to climb the Twitch ranks in 2021, with VShojo stars Ironmouse and Veibae breaking into the top 10 women on the platform.

While Hololive and Nijisanji have helped VTubers take over YouTube, Twitch has been a difficult medium to break. VShojo, an English VTuber group, has finally broken through to become one of Twitch’s most popular streamers. According to a new survey from StreamElements, their two biggest stars, Ironmouse and Veibae, were among the top 10 ladies on the site in October 2021. In October 2021, Ironmouse was the most-watched female VTuber on Twitch, with a total of 981,861 hours viewed. The Puerto Rican actress was the platform’s sixth-most-watched woman.

Veibae’s numbers dropped somewhat in October, from just over a million to 838,529 hours watched, but her ranking in the top 10 shows how quickly she’s risen through the Twitch rankings since her re-debut with VShojo in April 2021. The most popular women on Twitch are still Kaitlyn ‘Amouranth’ Siragusa and Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys, but the trends show that VTubing is only growing in popularity.

VTubers already dominate the YouTube market, with nine of the top ten most Superchatted (donated) channels, mostly from Hololive, being VTubers. Nijisanji’s Kuzuha, the top VTuber on YouTube, with almost 9 million hours watched in a three-month period between July and September 2021.

However, the Twitch statistics for the English language audience are encouraging, suggesting that 2022 will be a huge year for the VTuber community on the platform.
