Twitch Bans Gambling Referral Code & Links

Streaming platform Twitch recently made a “useless” attempt to lessen and limit gambling streams and announced that Gambling streamers can now no longer share their referral code links to their viewers but many think that it isn’t enough.

Twitch recently announced that a new rule for Gambling streamers has been implemented where it will now prohibit the sharing of referral codes and links to its sites. Twitch says that this new update will protect its viewers from harm and scams.

According to Twitch Expert, Nathan Grayson, he said that scoring a gambling sponsorship on the streaming services like Twitch means big money for the streamer and Online gambling companies like Duelbits, Frank Casino, or Stake that often played by many popular streamers and sums a huge amount of money by just sitting on camera playing virtual gambling. One of the ways that these casino online sites make money is from special code links, and referrals that offer cash bonus, free games, and incentives to new players.

Streaming platform Twitch’s latest update aims to put an end to these incentives and Gambling streamers like Roshtein have now until August 17th to remove and strip the codes from their streams.

Twitch wrote saying that to prevent harm and scams created by the questionable gamblinh services that sponsor streams on Twitch, they are now prohibiting shared links and referral codes that offer dice games, roulette, and slots. Also they will continue to monitor gambling-related content and update their approach as needed. To give streamer’s time to remove code and links from their contents and channel, streamers are given until August 17th to remove any shared code and link to its site.

Some gambling streamers don’t seem concerned by the guidelines. A Roulette streamer, Roshtein was asked by one by one of his viewer about what and how he thought about Twitch banning links and referral codes and he said that it is great and address the new guidelines saying that it could be going into the right direction and that he is excited where this new guidelines goes.

The new guidelines of Twitch do indeed seem like a move in the right direction, many still think that they don’t actually do much because some streamers can still share links in other ways outside Twitch also, it’s not just about referrals. Many gambling sites sponsor streamers and provide funds for them to gamble with and others are offered large monthly salaries to keep making gambling content.

Many are wondering why would gambling sites would invest so much money in gambling streams. As much as streamers gambling like to tell their viewers not to gamble, or watch the, instead-there’s still an element of encouragement to it that could cause real-life harm.

According to Twitch, they will continue to monitor any gambling-related content and that they will do their best to lessen some of it and protect its users concerning gambling streams.
