Streamer xQc Defends Pokimane

Following the “hate raid” incident on the platform this week, Felix “xQc” Lengyel joined fellow broadcasters and content creators in supporting Imane “Pokimane” Anys. Jidion, a fellow Twitch streamer, launched a sexist attack on Pokimane, instructing his supporters to spam her chat with vile remarks directed at the streamer and her followers.

In light of the incident on Twitch, xQc, a former Overwatch pro, expressed his support for the Queen of Twitch. His opinion on the “hate raid” incident, on the other hand, sparked a lot of debate about equality, toxicity, and misogyny.

xQc publicly discussed the event involving Pokimane and Jidion during his livestream on January 14, 2022, claiming that his thoughts could be the “hottest take.” He also stated that “if this gets me cancelled, so be it” before digging into why his statements may be contentious.

xQc began his remarks; “It’s not about harassing the queen, or harassing Pokimane, or harassing women. It’s about harassing anybody. If you’re going to be an idiot and a moron to a woman or to a man, don’t make it about the fact that they’re a woman or a man. Is it that hard? I don’t think it’s that hard. I hate everybody. I don’t make it about that, though. If I end up hating or making a toxic remark to a woman, it’s not because it’s a woman. It has nothing to do with it. It’s the same way if I said something to a male.”

Before wrapping up his ideas, xQc inquired as to why we can’t just be friendly to “everybody” instead of being “toxic” to one another. He eventually backtracked on his remarks on “toxic” behavior and society, stressing that everyone should be treated fairly and equitably.

Pokimane was harassed by sexist viewers last year, and xQc’s words aren’t the first time he has supported her. Pokimane returned the favor by defending his community on Twitch when the topic of toxic culture was brought up.

Because they frequently participated on each other’s streams over the previous few years, the two streamers have built a friendly yet entertaining bond. Pokimane held a game in Valorant with an incredible Ace after reaching Immortal Rank, and xQc was a part of it.
