Streamer Disguised Toast Discusses TwitchCon Partner Lounges

DisguisedToast, a well-known Twitch streamer and OTV member, spoke about the inner workings of TwitchCon’s partner lounge as well as the exclusive VIP lounge allegedly reserved just for the site’s “top” content creators today.

TwitchCon has resumed operations in North America after a nearly three-year absence brought on by the global COVID-19 outbreak. Hundreds of creators have gone to the event, which is already well underway, to engage with their viewers, communities, and other streamers.

DisguisedToast, a Twitch streamer, observed that these places are not as soothing for large streamers as planned despite the fact that Twitch designated specific areas of the convention for partnered streamers to provide as a respite from nearly continual fan interactions.

Disguised Toast explained on the OTV podcast; “If you’re one of the top streamers, even in the partner lounge you will get stopped for photos and signatures. I would say in the partner lounge there are way more people trying to start a conversation with me, because they approach me as an equal. It’s like ‘hey, we’re both the same level,’ but realistically we’re not.”

Disguised Toast claims that Twitch set aside a second partner lounge for VIP members to protect some of the platform’s most well-known creators from the onslaught of photographs and signatures from both fans and fellow streamers. Many partnered streamers were said to have missed the cut for entry to this private club, making it much more exclusive.

However, Disguised Toast claimed that Twitch was trying to keep this lounge hidden because it might have been worried about how smaller streamers would respond. The OTV member elaborated; “You can go to another area that is the secret, exclusive, upper-tier partner lounge. They don’t like us talking about it because when smalls streamers realize ‘hey, you’re not treating us equally,’ that’s because we’re not equal.”

While numerous TwitchCon attendees have confirmed the existence of a more upscale partner lounge, Disguised Toast’s language and defense of the VIP area have drawn criticism from many viewers.
