Sean Miller is The New Head of Overwatch League

The Overwatch League is about to begin its fifth season, and the leadership roles will be rearranged.

Senior business operations manager Sean Miller will take on the head role in the OWL for 2022. VP Jon Spector is stepping down from the OWL and taking on the role of Overwatch’s commercial leader.

Prior to stepping down, Spector declared in September as Overwatch esports VP that the 2022 OWL season will begin in April, and various league insiders confirmed to Dot Esports that the season would begin “on an early build of Overwatch 2” in his announcement tweet. Spector joined Blizzard as an Overwatch League director in 2017 and was promoted to vice president at the start of 2020.

Miller sat down with Dot Esports earlier this year to talk about the upcoming 2021 season, which began in April. During the interview, he talked about the possibility of Western players traveling to Hawaii to play against Eastern teams if teams couldn’t play online, which happened during the 2021 OWL playoffs.

With roughly two months until the deadline for all teams to have a minimum of five players signed to long-term contracts on Jan. 3, 2022, we’re in the thick of the OWL offseason.
