Pokimane Talks About Using A Fake Name

Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys, a popular Twitch streamer, has explained why she frequently uses fake names in public and has pleaded with her followers not to call her out for it.

Fans approach Twitch star Pokimane everywhere she goes since she has developed into one of the most known streamers on the internet over the past few years. Even meeting a fan during his in-person webcast while she was out shopping is something she has done. Poki explained in a recent TikTok video that she occasionally assumes a different name in instances where she has problems using her first name with Starbucks personnel. 

Poki requested followers not to call her out for using a different identity when ordering her preferred Starbucks drink in a video posted on April 17 to her secondary TikTok channel. She stated; “If you see me out in public at like a Starbucks or I’m getting food and I give them a completely random name and you know that’s not my real name — mind your business okay. It’s my white name. Sometimes I go by Jen or Kim, you know. Because if I give them my actual name, Imane, here’s how the conversation goes. ‘Yvonne? No no no Imane. Elon? Girl, do I look like Elon Musk to you?’ They’ll ask how to spell [Imane], and they’ll come out and ask ‘Is there an Imani here? I moon? Imana?’ I don’t wanna deal with it.”

Pokimane is a Moroccan-Canadian, and although having a Muslim origin and the meaning “faith,” her first name is highly popular in Morocco.
