Pokimane Returns To Live Streaming As A VTuber, Breaks The Internet

Twitch star Imane Anys aka Pokimane announced her return to stream from a month-long hiatus. She took a month-long break for the sake of her mental health as she stated in her long post. Also, as many knew, she was facing a lot of controversies at the time, including the controversy about the boyfriend drama started by the ex-Twitch streamer Leafy. Pokimane claimed that she had nothing to do with Leafy’s permanent ban.

Recently, as she announced her return to stream, she also announced that she will be debuting to be a Vtuber. A Vtuber is a Virtual YouTuber person that streams or uploads videos to YouTube using, mostly, an anime avatar, following their movements in real time. These avatars may be in 2D or 3D models. The digital avatars interact with the fans.

Some expressed their unhappiness regarding her decision as it breaks the internet and they are posting their opinions on Twitter. Some were saying that Pokimane just wants more money and that she just wants to join the bandwagon to gain more popularity, while some think that there is nothing wrong with her decision.

Pokimane responded to the backlash on her Twitter, posting; “I understand where you’re coming from, and you’re absolutely entitled to that opinion. I tried to repeatedly mention on stream that I don’t want to encroach on the vtuber community, and I mentioned that anyone interested should check the numerous creators that have been doing this for years. I think it’s so cool and a great alternative for anyone that doesn’t wanna use a cam for whatever reason. I hope to partake in a respectful manner; However your feelings are still valid and I respect that you or others may not support me. Wish you & the whole community the best of luck. I’ll be listening to people’s feedback and doing my best to be considerate”.
