PewDiePie Speaks About Living In Japan

After years of waiting, YouTube star Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg has finally moved to Japan, and he claims the country has some huge unexpected perks for him.

PewDiePie has the highest number of subscribers on YouTube. With over 111 million followers on Instagram, it’s nearly hard for the Swedish influencer to go unnoticed in public. In fact, Kjellberg has already pleaded with followers to allow him some private time in public settings, citing one incident in which he was surrounded by fans while eating dinner with his wife, Marzia.

Felix, Marzia, and their two pugs moved to Japan after residing in the United Kingdom for some time. Due to the global health crisis, the process was put on hold for years. Despite the fact that the couple is still settling in, Felix claims to be in a ‘honeymoon’ period with the country and finds it difficult to criticize his new surroundings. Even better, he believes that he is never longer recognized in public, which is one of the main reasons he enjoys living so far away from the West.

In a June 6 Q&A video, he said; “I never cared for attention. I always smile when I meet people. It genuinely brightens me up. I mean that. But — and I think people recognize this in my vlogs — I can kind of let my guard down a bit in public. That’s also, honestly, part of the reason we like Japan. No one knows who we are here, and I really enjoy that. As much as I like meeting you guys, I do also enjoy that. But also, don’t misunderstand me. I also appreciate people coming and just saying hi for a bit.”

The YouTuber further stated that he is occasionally recognized, but it is typically by other foreigners or those who want to perfect their English. For the time being, this is a significant change in PewDiePie’s life — and the start of a new chapter for YouTube’s biggest star.
