PewDiePie Reacts to Oli London Attempting to Look More ‘Korean’

Youtuber Felix Kjellberg aka PewDiePie has recently reacted to the youtube video of British YouTuber and influencer Oli London who underwent 18 surgeries to make them look similar to BTS pop star Jimin and now identifies as Korean.

Internet personality Oli London has been creating controversy on the internet in the past years as they claimed that they have spent tens of thousands of dollars and underwent 18 surgeries in order to look like K-pop idol Jimin.

Oli London no longer identifies as British as he has asked that the media refer to them as Korean. London also identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. On June 26th, Oli London posted a youtube video on his channel showing that they even went as far as to get surgery to look ‘more Korean’ and this video has received a massive backlash. At the time of the writing, Oli London’s youtube video with the title “Being KOREAN…” has more than 35k dislikes and only 2.4k likes.

On a recent youtube video upload of popular youtuber Pewdiepie, he went on to react to the popular video of Oli London trying to look more like Jimin in 2020, and he’s now back again to share his thoughts on the influencer’s latest announcements. After watching part of the video, Pewdiepie became speechless not knowing how to react as he stated; “I’m speechless. I don’t know what to say, it’s so bizarre.”

Shortly after, pewdiepie went on to share some of his thoughts as he said; “I believe that he’s doing it because he wants to, but you’re also letting everyone know. You cannot say you don’t like the attention at least. Which is fine, if you wanna do that, but I don’t buy that at all. There’s definitely both of these elements playing into each other. You are appropriating another race. That’s not always a good look, I’m not gonna lie. You’re not taking away from aliens by identifying as them.”

Pewdiepie claimed that his reaction wasn’t intended as hate towards Oli London as it was just that he found the topic interesting. He stated; “I’m totally fine with people doing surgery or if they’re not happy about an aspect of themselves, fine. But it also kind of opens up this question of you know, what are you ever going to be if you can always change a part of yourself.”
