OTK Cuts Ties With Artesian Builds

Following a giveaway controversy, the esports organization and streaming group OTK, aka One True King, has officially terminated ties with the pre-built PC company Artesian Builds.

Artesian Builds recently held a PC giveaway, with the only requirement that brand ambassadors display the company’s banner on their Twitch accounts. When Twitch streamer Kiapiaa was named the winner, CEO Katz reportedly modified the eligibility conditions and publicly criticized her channel and viewer metrics before eliminating her from the competition. The company’s actions were described as condescending and unfair by Kiapiaa and others.

OTK, a streaming group led by Asmongold, Mizkif, Esfand, and Rich Campbell, has officially severed ties with the hardware firm. On Oct. 11, 2020, the rapidly growing esports group struck a collaboration agreement with Artesian Builds.

OTK tweeted, “OTK is, was, and will always be a collective of streamers working together to elevate one another and produce content that is greater than the sum of its parts. We look forward to continuing our mission of pushing the envelope of what it means to be a gaming organization, and we are deeply thankful for the community that has supported us through it all.”

Other Artesian Builds-affiliated streamers have criticized the CEO’s recent conduct on stream. NICKMERCS weighed in on the debate, criticizing Katz’s actions while remaining linked with the company for the time being. Since the start of the giveaway controversy, Artesian Builds has issued multiple apologies, but the company has received a generally unfavorable response.
