Ninja, KingGothalion and Shroud are Released to Stream

Microsoft gaming platform Mixer shut down on July 22nd and the streamers and partners of Mixer have been moved over to stream on Facebook Gaming. In a month’s time, Microsoft will no longer operate Mixer as a service.

According to Phil Spencer, the closing down of the streaming service is due to Mixer’s failure to draw enough viewers to compete with Twitch and YouTube. Top streamers like Ninja, Shroud and KingGothalion who had exclusivity deals with Mixer say that Microsoft will allow them to stream wherever they decide to go. The streamers shared their response to the closure of Mixer through their social media accounts.

Ninja posted; “I love my community and what we built together on Mixer. I have some decisions to make and will be thinking about you all as I make them”.

Shroud posted; “I appreciate the Mixer community and everything I’ve been able to do on the platform. I love you guys and I am figuring out my next moves”.

KingGothalion posted; “Ten months ago, I joined the Mixer team, and my hope was to help create a more robust and competitive streaming while mentoring streamers on Mixer, helping them grow their brands, and create a space we all can feel safe streaming in. My mission hasn’t changed. I’ll be joining the Facebook Gaming team, and just like them, my doors will be open to all Mixer streamers looking to find a new home.”
