Nickmercs Quits Warzone For Apex Legends

Battle royale games like Call of Duty Warzone and Apex Legends attract a large number of content creators from all around the world. Such creators publish streams of intense matches to their YouTube or Twitch channels, much to the enjoyment of viewers.

Nick “Nickmercs,” for example, has over 4 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. The professional player used to be a Warzone content creator, but after becoming dissatisfied with Activision’s main title, he switched to Apex Legends.

In a recent video, the former MLG National Champion discussed why he favors Apex Legends to Call of Duty Warzone. He revealed why he is so into Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale game in an attempt to answer his viewers’ questions about his transition. Nickmercs noted that the availability of a ranked mode drew him into Apex Legends from the start, while broadcasting the game on his YouTube channel. He went over why ranked mode is superior to regular battle royale matches. “You can see yourself progress and get better. A lot of other games that we play don’t have that. Like Fortnite didn’t have it, Warzone didn’t have it…In this game there is a real ranked mode.”

Even though gamers have asked Activision to include a ranked option, the developers have chosen to ignore the request. Nickmercs has always been forthright about his dislike for Warzone.

The streamer did not hesitate to admit that Apex Legends had issues, but he also acknowledged the game’s competitive potential. Nickmercs likes the battle royale game because it allows him to grind and compete with other gamers of similar skill levels. He stated, “If you feel you are good enough, you can take a shot at competitive, there is this whole Challenger League that feeds into the Pro League, it’s really cool that way. You just keep climbing. […] The bar keeps moving higher and higher, which is fun for a guy like me ’cause y’all know how competitive I am. I like to find things to grind and the more you grind in this game, the more you find how complicated it is… the game’s got layers, man.”

He has been shown rage quitting Warzone in numerous of his videos, just to return to Apex Legends at the end. Nickmercs was joined by fellow streamers TimTheTatman, FaZe Nio, and Cloakzy to play Call of Duty Warzone in a video posted earlier this month.

Things went wrong, however, when he died early in the second encounter. The FaZe clan’s professional player exited the voice chat and waited in silence for twenty seconds before inviting two other players to play Apex Legends with him.
