Myth And Cherdleys On Mogul Chessboxing Championship

During Ludwig’s Mogul Chessboxing Championship, YouTuber Myth faced up against comedic sketch maker Cherdleys in what was arguably the most one-sided matchup of the competition.

It’s important for chessboxers to strike a balance between their mental and physical toughness, but from the start of Myth and Cherdleys’ fight, it was obvious that their main goal was to hit each other in the face. In the first game of chess, Cherdleys wasted a lot of time and gave away pieces for free, creating the impression that he had no idea what he was doing. Myth wasn’t particularly skilled with his maneuvers either, but it seemed like a contest to see who could make the fewest stupid errors.

Ludwig commented after the opening chess game, “It does appear to me that Cherdleys is trolling. Myth is not trolling. He’s just not very good.”

But as the boxing began, it was obvious for what each fighter had been preparing. Despite rounds only lasting 90 seconds, both fighters showed steely resolve as they carelessly let their guard down to deliver punishment simultaneously and repeatedly. Myth appeared to have a clear advantage throughout the whole boxing section of the bout, and he probably would have won if a judge’s judgment had been correct, but Cherdleys didn’t concede defeat until demonstrating his own ability to deliver licks.

Almost every time, the fighters being forced to the chessboard was anticlimactic. Ludwig criticized the two designers’ chess skills right away, claiming that it was like “trying to watch toddlers put square shapes in the round holes” to see them play. The battle was ultimately determined in the most discouraging way imaginable when Cherdleys lost on time during the final chess round of the game. After the bout, all of the analysts concurred that the two ought to square off again soon, but perhaps the following time they should only box.
