Moistcr1tikal on Twitch and YouTube Contracts

With more top Twitch streamers defecting to YouTube than ever before this year, Moistcr1tikal has gone on record to reveal a shocking gap between exclusive contracts on both sides.

During the latter half of 2021, the ‘streamer wars’ will continue to rage as more extremely popular personalities choose a platform to call home. While some, like NICKMERCS, have remained faithful to Twitch’s purple brand, others, like CouRageJD, have strengthened their ties with YouTube.

Ludwig was the latest personality to join the list of shifting stars.   Despite setting a record for the longest-running subathon on the platform at the time, the social media star now only streams on YouTube. In light of the industry-shattering news, streamer Moistcr1tikal went live to talk about Ludwig’s departure and reveal a major reason why the trend is likely to continue.

Moistcr1tikal mentioned a specific comment from DisguisedToast when discussing his recent comeback on Twitch. While “Toast exaggerated a little bit” while suggesting that other platforms offer “30x more” than Twitch, cr1tikal claim that this estimate isn’t too far off. He said; “Twitch contracts, on average, are a 10th of what most other contracts will offer. So when you see a lot of people switching platforms, a lot of the time it’ll be due to the money.”

In his explanatory video, Ludwig confirmed this notion saying; “Straight up, [YouTube] offered me more money.”

According to Moistcr1tikal, it’s the lower offers compared to those from other platforms that are driving top streamers away from Twitch. He explained; “Twitch believes they’re a monopoly, so losing Ludwig is not a big deal. Twitch needs to understand that most people want to stay on Twitch. I love Twitch, Ludwig loved Twitch. But when you’re not willing to fight for them or make it competitive, it’s really hard to want to stay on that team. Ludwig is the sixth-highest earner on Twitch and they weren’t ready to fight for him.”

Valkyrae has expressed a similar opinion, noting that YouTube is the “only true option [because] they care.” While Ludwig was the most recent to leave Twitch, cr1tikal warned that the floodgates are still wide open for more to follow. He said; “A lot of streamers have been talking to each other about switching platforms. A couple have made that decision. I think a lot of you are gonna be shocked at the next couple leaving.”
