One Million Dollars AbleGamers Donation

Amazon owned gaming platform Twitch revealed during the recent Glitchcon that they will be making a donation of $1 million to the AbleGamers Foundation. The AbleGamers Foundation is an American nonprofit organization and foundation dedicated to improving accessibility in the video game space, enabling more people with disabilities to be able to play video games. The foundation also provides consultations for developers looking to make their games more accessible to the disabled, something that has been in increasing demand as the medium has matured and become more popular.

Because of this, AbleGamers has become one of the more prominent charities in the video game industry. Twitch streamer DrLupo was the one who made the announcement during a glitchcon stream, together with the AbleGamers COO Steven Spohn. DrLupo thanked Steven Spohn and his organization for the incredibly important work they do for them in the Twitch community and gamers in general. Spohn went to say that this kind of money would be able to change the lives of thousands of disabled gamers.

Steve Spohn also posted it out on Twitter stating; “I am so shook. @Twitch donating $1,000,000 to @AbleGamers is going to literally change the lives of thousands of people with disabilities. To you who supported me, my work, AbleGamers, and our lofty dream of enabling everyone to play: Thank you. They did this because of you”!

There were many generous donations made to his cause, but Twitch’s donation is by far the largest and pushes the total far beyond that goal. In fact, it is the biggest single donation that AbleGamers has ever received in its history.
