Meyers Leonard Unbanned

The Twitch streaming platform recently unbanned the NBA pro and former FaZe Clan investor Meyers Leonard one week after he was banned for using an anti-Semitic slur during one of his live broadcast. Meyers Patrick Leonard is an American professional basketball player for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association.

Back on March 8th when Meyers was streaming Warzone on his Twitch channel together with big streamers such as Symfuhny and TeePee, he got frustrated when dealing with a sniper. He exclaimed; “Don’t be a fking coward. Don’t fking snipe me, you fking… ** b*tch”. This incident caused him to get banned from the platform. The incident landed Leonard in hot water and FaZe issued a statement condemning his comments and cut ties with him. Because of this, many have been questioning if the ban was permanent, but then now Twitch have announced that the streamer is now unbanned after a week of being banned. The unbanning means the NBA pro is free to stream on the platform again but it seems like the sponsors are unlikely to partner up with the star after the controversy.

On March 9, he issued an apology over using the slurs. In his statement, he claimed that he did not know what the slur meant as he stated; “While I didn’t know what the word meant at the time, my ignorance about its history and how offensive it is to the Jewish community is absolutely not an excuse and I was just wrong. I promise to do better and know that my future actions will be more powerful than my use of this word.”
