Ludwig YouTube Switch Complaints

Streaming star Ludwig ‘Ludwig’ Aghren has once again mentioned a few troubles he’s having with YouTube streaming, but he’s also working on an upgraded version of the Mogul TV extension to fix them.

With YouTube and Facebook Gaming competing for some of Twitch’s biggest names, it’s been more usual to see streamers switch platforms in recent years.

Following his historic subathon and successful original shows, Ludwig’s move from Twitch to YouTube in November came as a huge surprise, given that he had become the Amazon-owned platform’s ‘golden boy.’ While he’s had a few difficulties with YouTube’s streaming side, including being banned for watching copyrighted video, he has made an effort to make the experience as similar as possible to his Twitch experience.

The YouTube streamer addressed a few more of his viewers’ complaints about YouTube in his January 21st video, including issues with VODs, him getting constantly timed out for copyrighted content, the slowness of his chat, and not having their Twitch data moved over, among others.

The data from a Twitch account, such as how long a fan had been subbed, was addressed in an extension that was eventually disallowed by Twitch since it was being used on a competitor site. “I’m not mad at Twitch, I understand why they did it, but it also meant that my workaround failed,” Ludwig said. “But, we have a new one now.”

The current solution by Ludwig is a modified version of the old one, but instead of using a viewer’s Discord account to restore sub badges and other features, it now relies on them being honest about how long they’ve been a fan.

Other difficulties, such as his VODs, have been solved with playlists and a YouTube account, but the extension is what will bring back the Twitch-like vibes, according to the streaming star. If enough people get part of the game, he may be able to add Twitch-type features like channel points and predictions in the future.
