After Nintendo pulled Super Smash Bros. from the Evo 2022 schedule, YouTube streamer and content creator Ludwig hinted at a possible alternative event.

Nintendo’s outright withdrawal from the Evo 2022 event disappointed Super Smash Bros. fans and players once again. The event had previously included the company’s famed fighting game title, with Evo staging some of the esport’s most iconic moments. Smash will be absent from the title-spanning tournament, according to the official Evo Twitter account. The announcement post said; “Since 2007, we’ve seen historic Super Smash Bros. moments created at Evo. We are saddened that Nintendo has chosen not to continue that legacy with us this year.”

Despite the fact that Super Smash Bros. will not be present in 2022, Evo’s statement indicated that the firm intends to return to the event in the future.

Ludwig, a content creator who rose to prominence in the Smash community, was quick to make a meaningful pledge to the community. He stated in a response Tweet; “don’t worry smashers, I got you.”

The streamer is no stranger to tournament management; on January 31st, he hosted his own Super Smash Bros. tournament. This is a melee event. Thousands of people watched the event, and Ludwig even put up a $30,000 prize pool on top of providing caster commentary for his own tournament. Ludwig has promised future tournaments on a much larger scale following the success of this first event. Despite the fact that nothing has been proven, Ludwig’s ambiguous statement has been instantly embraced by the Smash community.
