Ludwig Defeats Elden Ring

Ludwig finally beat Elden Ring today, after streaming for 4 days and 6 hours straight, as promised in his stream title: “The stream ends when I beat Elden Ring.” Oddly enough, he didn’t actually end the stream after all that time, but instead stayed to celebrate with his viewers, 18,000 of whom witnessed the final moments of his victory.

Ludwig refused to stop streaming during the live, only pausing to sleep, eat, and record a podcast, in what amounted to a last-minute, unplanned subathon motivated by his ambition to conquer FROM Software’s latest release in front of his audience.

He began streaming on February 24th, and according to his on-stream death counter, he has accumulated 701 deaths throughout that time.

Ludwig is no stranger to extended streams, having completed a 31-day uncapped subathon in 2021, during which time he amassed 283,066 active Twitch followers, making him the most subscribed Twitch streamer of all time. He has now signed an exclusive streaming partnership with YouTube Gaming, where he hosts his Elden Ring challenge live.

Elden Ring, the latest game from FROM Software, has grabbed the gaming world by storm. The game has garnered high praise from both fans and critics, with critical scores exceeding 95/100. This has led a number of streamers, like xQc, Moist Critical, Ludwig, and others, to give the extremely difficult game a try live.

Ludwig isn’t the only streamer who has pulled a subathon trick. Ironmouse continues her now 25-day and counting uncapped subathon, during which she has broken into the top three most-subscribed to streamers of all-time list. DisguisedToast recently ran a “viewerthon,” in which the stream ended if it fell below a certain viewer count, while DisguisedToast recently ran a “viewerthon,” in which the stream ended if it fell below a certain viewer count.
