IShowSpeed Is Called A Racial Slur

Recent IShowSpeed broadcasts had the potential to go in a very bad direction, but the YouTuber made the best of it.

IShowSpeed was performing an IRL stream when a little boy approached him and called him a racial slur. He went to speak to the child’s mother instead of yelling at the kid. The YouTuber could have destroyed the child’s entire evening by telling everyone what the boy said to Speed, but instead he chose to keep things light-hearted and, hopefully, teach the child a vital lesson about how to behave around others. Speed was snapping a picture with a fan early on in his IRL stream when a young child standing outside the frame branded him a “Monkey.” A particularly offensive racial slur that has been used since at least the 1800s is to refer to an African American person as a monkey. “What? Monkey? What’d you just call me, boy?”

The kid would continually address the streamer as “Speed,” indicating that he was aware of who he was. While walking with him to try to find his mother, the young boy who called him by that name was also grinning. “Where yo momma at? Where yo mom at? Where yo mom at? Nah, nah nah nah.”

The YouTuber promptly located the boy’s mother and approached her, clearly prepared to expose the child for using the term he did. He chose to take the high road rather than expose the boy. “Hey, this your son? This your son right here? So, your son right here, he, guess what he called me? The best YouTuber in the world!”

The boy acknowledged saying that as well: “It’s true though.”

IshowSpeed walked away after thanking the child for becoming a fan and claiming that he had just saved the child’s life. Speed wasn’t first confident in his decision, but he was pleased with how things turned out. He carried on with his IRL stream while appearing unconcerned with the situation.
