Instagram Removes Pokimane’s Post

Imane “Pokimane” Anys, a Twitch celebrity, was very perplexed when Instagram deleted one of her photos for promoting sexual activity.

Pokimane has been a top Twitch streamer for a while, regularly playing games like Valorant and Overwatch with her swarm of devoted fans. Anys has steadfastly refused to make sexual content, despite fan requests for the Moroccan-Canadian to emulate fellow streamer Alinity and start making OnlyFans stuff.

Amazingly, that didn’t stop Instagram from objecting to one of Pokimane’s postings from back in July 2022 when she humorously questioned what it would be like to be a “sugar momma.” On February 14, Pokimane stated in a since-deleted tweet that Instagram had removed the summer photo because the caption violated the platform’s community standards. Being a “sugar momma” was mentioned in the photo’s caption, which Instagram claimed violated its “adult sexual solicitation guidelines.”

The site notified Pokimane they “don’t allow people to facilitate, encourage or coordinate sexual activity on Instagram,” according to a screenshot she posted. It continued with a list of other instances, including soliciting naked photos or filming sexual activity. Pokimane was unhappy with the call in any scenario.

Giving someone money “ain’t gotta be sexual,” Pokimane retorted in response to a fellow streamer who claimed that users had mass-reported the image to have it removed. Pokimane might want to reconsider her photo captioning choices in light of the possibility of a future ban while we wait to see if Instagram allows the image and caption to be posted again.
