HasanAbi Turned Down TV Show

Hasan ‘HasanAbi’ Piker, a Twitch star, is one of the internet’s most popular broadcasters, but he has no plans to expand his empire to include full-time appearances on television just yet.

Hasan is a well-known streamer on the internet. Hasan, who has over 2 million followers, is known for his political comments and amusing gaming experiences with other online celebrities. It’s hardly unexpected that he’s made a few guest appearances on TV shows in the past, given his expertise as a full-time streamer and former broadcast journalist with ‘The Young Turks,’ but he doesn’t want his own show. Hasan sat down with YouTuber Anthony Padilla on April 29 to talk about his life as an online celebrity and where he sees himself going in the future.

When asked if he’d been given a TV show, Hasan replied that he had — but that he always declines these offers for one reason in particular. He revealed; “I have, plenty of times, and I don’t like that. I love what I do. I’m very fortunate. I love having a place where I can go to every day and talk about politics every day. I don’t wanna ‘expand.’ I don’t wanna grow. I want to grow, but as long as I can grow at my own pace. As long as I can continue doing what I’m doing and not change that, not be beholden to a larger company, or investors, or anything like that. Then, I’m fine. I’m fine with that growth.”

Hasan’s interview with Anthony Padilla follows his controversial $1,000 Coachella outfit, which sparked social media controversy. During their interview, Padilla brought up the backlash, which made the two giggle. Hasan said in response to his critics; ”It is ridiculous that people hold me to a standard that I, myself, do not hold myself to. I see myself as an entertainer, and I’m honest about it.”

For the time being, it appears that Hasan will stick to Twitch rather than prime time tv, however there’s no guarantee that a platform swap to YouTube won’t happen as more and more streamers take advantage of YouTube’s offerings.
