Former GV Student Streaming NBA 2K

Dyllon Hoover is a former Grand Valley State student who is out of work for now because of the Covid-19 pandemic. He became a Twitch streamer who is now casually streaming for almost two years already. At first he simply considered it as a hobby. Now, he is streaming on Twitch for 40-50 hours every week.

He started streaming on the Twitch platform way back in 2018 when he learned that his roommate was making money on the platform simply playing Fortnite. It is now his livelihood and is loving the life of streaming NBA 2K on Twitch.

During two years of streaming, Dyllon has now over 9,000 Twitch followers. He’s making money through donations, gifted subscriptions and bits like other streamers. He also makes a portion of his income through implemented ad revenue; for every 1,000 people that see a Twitch-sponsored ad during his streams, he makes $3.50 per ad, which adds up quickly during longer streams.

“The thing about my job is that I don’t consider it work because I enjoy it so much, and that’s something a lot of people will never get to do in their lives, and for me, that was a big thing. I don’t want to sit there and not enjoy what I’m doing for the rest of my life. This is a hobby that has turned into more than a hobby, which is so cool”.
