Dr Disrespect Thoughts About Twitch Revenue Split Change

In a blunt tweet, well-known YouTube streamer Dr Disrespect slams the newly announced changes to Twitch’s revenue share and implies that the Amazon livestreaming service was due for this.

Twitch and the different streamers on the site have had a difficult week, but among the issues affecting content creators is a significant change to revenue from adverts, subscriptions, and other sources. After being permanently barred from Twitch in 2020, Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm has since been producing content and streaming on YouTube, which offers a more equitable revenue split between the firm and content creators.

Dr. Disrespect, who left Twitch, has continued to criticize the corporation and some creators on the network, and his latest tweet, which equated what Amazon’s livestreaming service has evolved into to excrement, is no exception.

Given that the two-time champion continues to stream frequently on YouTube to an audience of thousands of people, his critical remarks about Twitch may give Dr Disrespect followers a better understanding of how the two-time champion thinks about the company. Since switching to the Google livestreaming platform, Dr. Disrespect has been known to criticize YouTube Gaming, but he also has a lot of bad things to say about Twitch because he thinks a new platform like Netflix might come along and clean things up. Even though he bemoans the absence of features like raids or gifting subscriptions on YouTube Gaming, Dr. Disrespect seemed confident in Twitch’s demise and said, “What goes around comes around.”

It’s unclear what Dr. Disrespect is referring to right now because he hasn’t provided any additional context, but he might be implying that he anticipated things would go south soon.

Twitch recently announced that it would change its revenue split so that livestreamers would receive half of the money they earn and the Amazon website would keep the other half to pay for the services and features. YouTube only gets 45% of the money made by livestreamers and 30% of Super Chat donations, which is worse than the revenue split provided by top-tier Twitch contracts but similar to the 50/50 one coming to the platform soon.

When Dr Disrespect made his remarks, this disparity in livestreamers’ earnings per video was confirmed, and it might be the main reason why the well-known YouTube streamer is so critical of Twitch. While many Dr. Disrespect YouTube fans have applauded his openness in discussing Twitch in a tweet, others have hypothesized that YouTube Gaming still has some catching up to do in order to compete with the purple platform.
