Dr Disrespect Says Snipers Should Be One-Shot

Dr Disrespect, a YouTube streamer and co-founder of Midnight Society, frequently pops up in conversations about video games, particularly when discussing how he believes a game should be balanced.

His most recent comments are directed at a much larger topic because he thinks snipers should be a one-shot headshot in all video games, in contrast to his harsh criticism of Apex Legend’s audio design from earlier this month.

For those who don’t know, Dr. Disrespect has a distinguished gaming history. Before deciding to pursue a full-time career in streaming, he began as a member of Sledgehammer Games, where he used his skills to design multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Dr. Disrepsect has always utilized his position and prior expertise to speak his ideas on what he believes is the right balance in video games, and his most recent stance has sparked a heated debate within the community despite his actions that got him banned from Twitch.

The Doc himself sent out a tweet that sparked the most recent argument. Doc simply states that snipers should be a one-shot knockout or elimination regardless of the video game as long as the shot is a headshot in a very succinct and direct tweet.

Dr Disrespect typically plays FPS or battle royale games on his YouTube streams, such as Call of Duty: Warzone, and his tweet, which has received over 150,000 likes since he posted it, drew the attention of many other gamers. Professional Call of Duty: Warzone player IceManIsaac and Call of Duty League caster Maven were among the well-known players that spoke up. In his defense, IceManIsaac cited the Kraber from Apex Legends, a weapon that is far slower but makes up for the lack of speed with force, as evidence that the one-shot potential of a sniper should only be recognized if the weapon requires expertise. Maven expresses a similar opinion, but adds that changes like bullet drops must be made rather than it being a one-hit without an appropriate trade-off.

Two other famous people expressed similar sentiments along those lines. ModernWarzone, a Call of Duty personality, acknowledged that there is room for debate on both sides of the issue, but he agreed with IceManIsaac’s assertion. Famous Twitch streamer Trainwrecks added his voice to the discussion concerning the overall lack of balance by pointing out how inconsistent shotgun balancing is in different games compared to sniper balance.

he famed 725 shotgun from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which had five major nerfs but still managed to dominate in some form, is reflected in his statements. Most people who responded to this tweet agreed with Doc’s position, albeit with appropriate trade-offs, and the debate that followed was mainly pleasant. It will be interesting to see if Dr Disrespect matches his outspoken comments on game balancing in his upcoming debut title.
