DMCA Strikes Against JakeNBake

Jake Abramson aka Jake’n’Bake is a Twitch streamer with over a half million followers on the platform. He often streams IRL aside from gaming. He recently revealed that his channel could be in danger of losing everything due to DMCA. The DMCA issue has been lingering on Twitch due to its said copyright of music that was played on some of the streamers during broadcast.

Some of the Twitch streamers, including the most watched streamers such as Pokimane have deleted some of their clips leaving their channel almost empty. Twitch music streamer DragonForces’s Herman Li was banned after DMCA flagged his own music. Now Twitch streamer Jake’s channel might be in danger. He revealed that he had been hit with copyright infringement from Twitch regarding a clip from May 9, 2018. The stream contains just a few seconds of the song Lift Yourself by Kanye West.

Jake explained himself through a posting on twitter saying that it was from a IRL stream and that he probably passed by a shop or some place playing that said song in the background. He stated; “Just to be clear… This is a 30sec clip from two and a half years ago. It was from an outdoor IRL stream. I probably passed by a shop or was in a place that was playing the song in the background. I’m now in danger of losing everything. How is this even realistic?!”.

The DMCA drama, unfortunately, looks set to continue into the foreseeable future on Twitch, with the platform sticking to their guns on the copyright stance.
