Crab Game Warns Streamers

Developer DaniDev has responded on Twitter to the DDoS attacks that broadcasters like Sodapoppin, xQc, and Nick Polom have lately experienced while playing Crab Game.

To avert a DDoS attack, the game’s developer recommended streamers to “probably stay away from public lobbies in Crab Game for a few days.” DaniDev did, however, inform both gamers and streamers that he is working on a solution. Dani then went on to explain how DDoS attacks were possible.

According to Dani, Crab Game was developed on the Facepunch Steam P2P network, which was quick but “it is apparently very insecure and you can sometimes leak your IP”.

Although the Crab Game developer is in the process of upgrading the networking code, he warned that it will take many days.

Crab Game, a multiplayer battle royale inspired by the popular Netflix series and international success of Squid Game, is a newly released Steam title in which players try to outlast each other across multiple mini-games. Crab Game’s popularity has risen in recent days, similar to the success of the Netflix series. According to TwitchTracker, Crab Game is the 38th most-watched game on Twitch right now, with approximately 2 million hours watched and over 24,000 average viewers.

Though streamers have been drawn to the game because of its resemblance to Squid Game, many may take a break owing to the frequency and severity of DDoS attacks. Hackers have already changed the IP addresses of several of the website’s most prominent streamers.

Aside from “a few days,” there’s no news on how long these changes will take, so streamers and fans will have to wait and see if Crab Game can recover.
