Splitgate designer Ian ‘CardinalSoldier’ Proulx recently revealed that the current version of the portal-wielding shooter is just approximately 25% complete.

CardinalSoldier highlighted his ambitions for the future of Splitgate, as well as what he wants 1047 Games to become, in an interview with TechCrunch (and noticed by Techradar). “I look at the game as being 25% done,” Proulx said of Splitgate’s “long term” existence, adding that “the scope of what we can accomplish is now through the roof.”

While he acknowledges that Splitgate “doesn’t have to be Fortnite tomorrow,” he does have long-term intentions to “create the next Riot Games, the next huge games business.”

CardinalSoldier announced last week (September 14) that 1047 Games had raised $100 million (£72.288 million) in finance, with the majority of it going toward expanding the firm. Proulx told TechCrunch that with this funding, which he describes as a ludicrous amount of money.

He stated in his first public remark on the investment that it would enable the company to recruit a lot more developers and that the next few months will be spent expanding to become the next big AAA studio while staying loyal to our beginnings as an indie team that prioritizes our community.

While a full launch of Splitgate may appear far off now that the scope has been expanded, Proulx believes; “It will be a truly historic debut beyond anything we could have thought of earlier.”

In other developments, after debuting on Steam yesterday (September 18), Deltarune – dubbed “the next adventure in the Undertale series” – attracted over 100,000 concurrent players. As of right now, the game has more concurrent players than games like Deathloop, which debuted last week as well.
