Amouranth Addresses Issue of Hot Tub Metas Not Being “Age-Appropriate”

Hot tub streams are not exactly entirely new on Twitch, and have been used sporadically as a way to get around Twitch’s policy on suggestive attire. There have been a lot of streamers and online personalities who have been sharing their concerns on the now controversial hot tub meta on twitch. Including twitch streamer xQc who vehemently against it as he called it the “most pathetic thing we’ve seen on Twitch in forever” and youtube streamer Valkyrae who also shares her thoughts on the trend stating that she didn’t see what the fuss is about. While Pokimane stated that she thinks Twitch should be blamed more than anyone else.

Now, another streamer has recently hit out at the trend and that is twitch streamer Malena who explained the reason as to why the hot tub trend on twitch needs to stop. She took to Twitter to voice her opinion on the matter questioning: “What happens when a 13-year-old does this?” Because of this, popular female twitch streamer Amouranth has responded via a series of twitter posts and claimed that it is a ridiculous test that can be applied to all kinds of different scenarios on the platform and not just on hot tub streams. Amouranth went on to describe many different ‘inappropriate’ scenarios, including everything from adult-themed conversations to drinking and smoking on stream, condom and dating app advertisements during streams, and even GTA RP streams.

She wrote; “The “imagine if a 13-year-old did it” litmus test for Twitch is ridiculous. Hypothetically, put a “13-year-old streamer” in settings you often find other big streamers in. It all feels inappropriate.” Naturally, her take on the issue has fans divided as some sympathized with her reasoning and commended her for making good points, while others think she’s only defending the hot tub meta because it benefits her.
